Summer Savers Program & Other Electric Company Discounts

I average about $100 a month for my gas & electric in my household of 6. I recently signed up for the Summer Savers Program here in San Diego. It generally doesn't get incredibly hot here so we let SDGE hook up monitors on our AC units. When their system is overwhelmed, they have the right to cut the power to our AC only. We just received a $273 credit for the year. We have 5 ceiling fans and 4 other good sized fans to keep us sane- in San Diego you can get away with this. Utilities also offer discounts to many others based on the number of people in your household and your income, its worth a check to see if you qualify.
